January '10 Ice Storm
In January 2010, Southwest Oklahoma, including the Altus area was devestated by the worst ice storm to hit since 1947, with 6 inch ice accumulation in some areas. In fact, the ice storm knocked us off of the air for over 36 days!!! Clear Skies Meteorologist Aaron Ulrich started preparing our audience with customized winter weather updates three days prior to the storm, in addition to the day the storm hit. Aaron's forecast provided essential information to our area, even outpacing the National Weather Service predictions. As program director of KJCM "Star 100.3", I anticipate a lengthy relationship in the future with Clear Skies Weather.
